It provides overload, short circuit, and earth fault protection for the entire downstream installation. Modern ACBs incorporate electronic trip units with adjustable long-time, short-time, and instantaneous settings allowing precise coordination with downstream MCCBs.     Main Busbar Assembly

Each MCCB is rated for the specific circuit it protects motor feeders, sub-distribution boards, UPS inputs, and lighting circuits all have different characteristics requiring different trip curve selections (B, C, D curves for MCCBs; LSI settings for ACBs). Segregation level (Form 3 or 4B) determines whether adjacent functional units are individually enclosed.
